Dat Drive

Hello All,

I have a DR8105 Tape Dat Drive Compaq 12/24 GB DDS-3 running on my server. When I go to format a backup tape about 1 minute into the procedure I get "unrecoverable data error" ARCSERV is the software. I have placed the cleaning tape in a cleaned it but it still wont work. Is the drive finally dead? Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi,

I have had the same error myself this week on a brand new drive. I found that I had set the DIP switches incorrectly, so I copied them from the old drive.

Failing that I think the DAT drive is probably past it - does it make a lot of noise whilst trying to erase the tape?
