Debian Buster on HPE ProLiant DL20

I would like to buy ProLiant DL20 and install Debian Buster to the server machine.

Can anyone tell me if is it possible without troubles?

It might be possible but it isn't supported so things might not work correctly... The supported OS are listed here

Could you recommend me Debian or Ubuntu server for this machine?

Unfortunately neither are supported on that server so we can't recommend it to you in this case, especially if this is for an important production workload. However if you'd like to try it out yourself with no promises of support, I'd probably try Ubuntu 18.04 or 20.04 and ensure that you set the embedded sata controller to AHCI mode if you're using those SATA ports. Let us know how it goes if you decide to try it.
