Debian Etch installation with SATA Raid 1 on Proliant DL320G5p
Hello folks,
we tried to install Debian 4.0r2 on our new Proliant DL320 G5p. Therefore we created an Raid 1 (2x 160 GB HDDs ) with the embedded SATA Raid Controller. Creating Raid 1 was successful. But the Debian Setup doesn´t recognize the Mirror Volume. He still shows both HDD´s separately.
On previous installation with Debian 4.0r1 and Proliant DL140 G3 the Raid1 Mirror was shown correctly as one Device.
Is there any solution for this issue?
Kind Regads
Manfred

Re: Debian Etch installation with SATA Raid 1 on Proliant DL320G5p
Hi, the answer is in a foot note in the Linux compatibility matrix:
http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/433096-0-0-0-121.html
** At this time HP does not provide software RAID drivers for Debian.
The integrated SATA RAID controller in low-level proliants is really software based, and needs the controller driver to be loaded on the OS.
If you look at the software and drivers page, there's no drivers for Debian for this model.
