Debian Failure

Hi Mates!

I have a debian server 5.03 Version 64 bit in ML585, but when the server boot show the following error:
"Target0:0:1: MPTSI: IOC0: dma_alloc_choerent for parameters failed"
I was chek the I/O cards and remove the scsi card and the boot error message it┬┤s not show...
Someone know where can I found the kernell module for this interface?
The SCSI Card model is LCI20320C-HP

Thanks

Re: Debian Failure

Are you sure it's a ML585, not a DL585? Which generation?

Model ML585 does not seem to exist according to HP QuickSpecs ( http://www.hp.com/go/quickspecs ), but DL585 has multiple generations:
- the original DL585 (can be called generation 1, but it's usually marked as just "DL585" with no G suffix)
- DL585 G2
- DL585 G5
- DL585 G6

The SCSI card model "LCI20320C" with or without the "-HP" suffix produces no hits in the HP PartSurfer ( http://partsurfer.hp.com ). Are you sure you typed the model correctly?

Re: Debian Failure

Hi I mistake.... the real model is DL585...and this is the part number of the scsi card

Re: Debian Failure

If that's a DL585 (G1), then the SCSI card is an add-on, not part of the standard configuration.

And yes, it seems the model of the SCSI card is LSI20320C-HP, not LCI...

There does not seem to be a pre-compiled driver for that card available from HP for Debian.

Based on the error message, this card was identified by the standard Fusion MPI driver that comes with the standard Linux kernel and is also included in Debian.

Unfortunately, there seems to be unsolved problems with this driver:

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15362

Your problem would seem to be unrelated to that bug, though.

As far as I understand, "dma_alloc_coherent" is a function that allocates memory for use with DMA operations. It's strange that such allocation would fail at system boot time, unless the system has a desperate need for more memory for some reason.

Or perhaps the card has simply failed and reports an insane value for parameter block size.

If possible, try with another SCSI card.

Re: Debian Failure

How many and what type/model of other I/O cards do you have installed?

Random thoughts - do they all want I/O port space? Can they all do 64-bit addressing?

Re: Debian Failure

Mates!

The Correct HP product Number for thuis card is 403051-001, I need the kernell module for debian 5.03 64 bit for DL 585 G2
