Delete Drives
What do we need to do to old disk drives before using them as spares? We have some old 4.3GB drives that were upgraded, and want to stock them as replacements for other servers. These servers may be running Netware or NT. I know we need to delete the Netware partition on the drives, but how? They were in use as part of a RAID5 configuration.
thanks for any help....

Re: Delete Drives

Re: Delete Drives
We do not have a server with a smart controller not in use. Do we need to build a new server without RAID5, add the drives and then delete them? Is there another way to do this?

Re: Delete Drives
The array controler is not necessary. You can put these in any non-production server and run the erase utility. This utility will clear CMOS and erase ALL hard drivers attached to the unit!... You can take drives out of a unit, put these in and run erase, then put the original dricves back. You will only have to configure CMOS afterward.
