Detecting ProLiant DL140 G3 System/BIOS

Hello,

Does anyone know how to detect if the system is HP ProLiant DL140 G3 server during POST at the point where the BIOS does PCI ROM scan?

Is there any signature in the shadow RAM or any BIOS interface that we can use?

Unfortunately, the SMBIOS table is not setup during the Option ROM scan, so that is not usesful.

We need to add some DL140 specific codes to the Option ROM we are developing on.

Appreciate any information on this.

Thanks,
Vetrivelan

Hello Vetrivelan,

I don't know if this will help but the DL/ML 100 Series utility SETSYS.EXE can display the BIOS information including the model information. You may be able to use this utility for what you are trying to achieve.

I hope this helps.

Re: Detecting ProLiant DL140 G3 System/BIOS

Hello Brian,

The utility is not useful in our case.

Basically, we need a way to programmatically determine the system/BIOS information dynamically during POST from within the Option-ROM/expansion BIOS. We need this to enable some patches that are specific to ProLiant system in our Option-ROM BIOS.

Thanks,
