Diferent Hard Drives
I have a Proliant DL380 G2, and one of the Hard drives just fail. Can i change a 36.4 Gb 10K Ultra3 Scsi with a 36.4 15K U320 Scsi?
Or do i have to keep the same size, speed and interface?
This is a PIII 1.4 Mhz 1.5M Ram hot swap with Windows 2000 SP4 Raid 5
Thanks!

Re: Diferent Hard Drives
Should work fine with the 15k drive, it might be hard to find 10k drives now.

Re: Diferent Hard Drives
Hi there,
Make sure you have latest system bios and controller firmware.
it should work fine if controller recognises the drive and rebuild the logical drive. however, Ultra320 drive will work at ultra3 speed.
thanks,
Aftab

Re: Diferent Hard Drives
Hi there,
HP Smart Array 5i is wide Ultra3 (ultra160) controller. however, Ultra320 technology is backward compatible and you should be able to use it on ultra3 controller.
quickspecs wil give you more details on smart array 5i controller.
thanks,
Aftab
