Differentiating dl380p, dl380e, ml350p & ml350e
Hello,
In making a purchase decision for a Windows Server 2012 to run Hyper-V - I see the following current servers that would fit our needs - (2 CPU - and a bunch of disk space):
dl380p,
dl380e,
ml350p &
ml350e
I see the ml series specs here and dl series specs here. It seems the difference for these two sets of servers are CPU generation and b vs. p series Smart Array controllers, among the obvious - 2U vs. 5U, disk & memory capacity.
Is it as simple as it seems, the differentiator is the CPU, Smart Array & 2U vs. 5U?
In a PDF brochure for HP Smart Bundles with Hyper-V, the dl380e is called out as an "Essential Tower", I'm assuming it is for $$$, not some specific feature of the CPU or Smart Array??
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Differentiating dl380p, dl380e, ml350p & ml350e
Hello,
in HP Proliant world, DL means rack server, ML means tower server. It depends on your needs and infrastructure what is better to you.
p-class and e-class differs in some components and possibly in performance, and, of course in price.
