Disable Redundant power

Hi, I have an old ML370 G1 (Dual PIII 800, 1280 Ram, 2*250 SATA Disks) with 3 power supplies and would like to remove 2 power units to save power consumption and reduce the noise.
The server won't boot with only one connected. Is there a way to rewire or disconnect something to disable the redundant check and let the server work with only one unit?

Thanks in advance,

Marcel.

Re: Disable Redundant power

Hi Marcel,

I'd expect you to need at least two of the hot plug power supplies in a ML370 for it to power up.

As standard that server came with a single, non hot plug 325W PSU. It could be upgraded to redundant power by completely removing this PSU, and installing the three slot redundant power supply cage that it sounds like you have.

In order to go back to a single power supply you would have to remove the three slot cage and install one of the original models, part number 402151-001.

You can find the maintenance and service guide here:

Hope this helps,

Rob
