Disaster Recovery to dissimilar hardware

I use a Proliant ML370 and I want to test a Disaster Recovery restore on another box that has not the same hardware as the server. The server is running Win2000 server and it is a domain controller. What could be the best practices to accomplish that ?

Re: Disaster Recovery to dissimilar hardware

The biggest problem we've had is getting the NICs to work after a restore... pain in the BUTT! This article shows promise, but I haven't had a chance to test it fully again. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;249694

I guess the problem is, during a restore, W2k will not allow third party drivers to be restored, which pretty much is useless since there are CPQ drivers everywhere.

This is the article that actually talks about the NIC drivers (the above one has a link to it)

The change needs to be done BEFORE you do your backups.
