Disk Array

For a DL380, suppose I want to put Disks 1 and 2 in one array, while Disks 3 to 5 in another array, and Disk 6 will be an on line spare.

In order to achieve the above, do I need to get it done through "hard wiring" (wire the disk into an array), or by configuration software?

Thanks to help.

Re: Disk Array

Place all disk as you wish. Boot from Smart Start CD for using ACU (Array configuration utility). Configure your drives through GUI ACU.

Re: Disk Array

Thanks for the response.

I need some clarification. I mean, in order to arrange the disks into an array,

1)Do I (or the server seller) have to first "manually/physically" do it--such as wire these 2 disks into Array One and wire those 3 disks into Arrary Two? Or,

2)Use the ACU configuration software to configure Disks 1 and 2 into Array One, while disks 3 to 5 into Array Two?

3)If 2) above is correct, my further question is: since the disks are daisy chained into an Array (is this even true?), then how can the ACU software "put" different disks into an Array?

Thanks to help.

Re: Disk Array

Scott,
2) is correct.
But disks are not "daisy chained" in array.
For example, you can create Array A with disk3 and disk5, and Array B with disk1, disk2, disk4.
ACU will do that you want.
