Disk error message

I have a Proliant ML370 on NT4 Server, it hosts a database only, it is not a PDC or BDC,
It is giving the following error in event viewer; "The driver detected a controller error on hard disk 0\ partition 2"
and "Data was recovered using error correction code on hard disk 0/ partition 2"

Should I worry about this?
Thanks for your help

Re: Disk error message

Hello Frank,
Which array controller do you have in the system?? Please update the firmware on the controller if you havn't done it already.

Re: Disk error message

I suspect you're not using an array controller and this is one of your drives failing (id 0).
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: Disk error message

install insight manager (the old one not Xe)on a workstation or directly on the server and install the insight agent on the server. All these apps are on the Management CD that come with the server (u can take it from compaq web too), the prg will give u details on the status of your HD (bad sect. spin error realoc used...).
If your hd is not accessible anymore u can contact a society like ONTRACKS, they are specialised in data recovery (but it is $$$$)

Re: Disk error message

Thanks for your replies,
I am not using RAID, just a mirror set, the drive has not failed yet,
there is a reference to this issue in the support pages with an advisory that users apply firmware upgrade to this drive (pn/176496) I have downloaded SoftPaq 19680, I will apply this first,
I will install the old version of CIM too, and take it from there
Thanks again
