Disks and array SNMP monitoring does not work on DL* G5/G6/G7 with Windows 2012 R2 Server Core
We can't get SNMP monitoring of disks/arrays/controller to work with our DL* G5/G6/G7 servers running Windows 2012 R2 Server Core. It works on Windows 2012 Standard though, so it must be something related to the Core editions.
HP Support claimed that it's untested on 2012 R2 Core, and may or may not work. But couldn't give us any more specific help or troubleshooting..
We've tried different versions of the "HP Insight Management Agents for Windows Server x64 Editions" package. All from 9.0.0.0 in 2012 to the latest 9.60.0.0, but no luck.
The issue is that polling the cpqDriveArray OID tree (1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3) only gives short ouput of the MIB revision and such, but the OIDs for physical disks, arrays and storage controller are empty. Wev'e confirmed this with HP SIM and manual SNMP walking of the OIDs.
snmpwalk -v2c -c public 192.168.112.51 .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.3
iso.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.1.1.0 = INTEGER: 1
iso.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.1.2.0 = INTEGER: 52
iso.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.1.3.0 = INTEGER: 2
iso.3.6.1.4.1.232.3.2.1.4.1.0 = INTEGER: 120
The storage CLI and WBEM can get this info, so it's only an issue with SNMP and the Management Agents package. However, our monitoring system doesn't use WBEM so we need SNMP to work.
All other hardware monitoring, such as temperatures, fans etc, are working via SNMP.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Johan Karlsson
