Dl360 G2 w/SmartStart v8.25

A v8.25 CD starts and boots but eventually returns a message about taking too long to read the CD. This same CD works in a DL380 G1 and a v6.30 smartstart works fine on this DL360 G2.

Any ideas?

Re: Dl360 G2 w/SmartStart v8.25

hmmm tom if yu are using sata drives the smart start cd does not support sata drives

so easy way disable raid in bios install on one disk '
then in window add the raid driver in dev manager

reboot and get into bios and enable raid as windows is ready with the driver all runs smooth

hint :)

BTW - no SATA drives. They are Compaq 72GB wide Ultra3 SCSI drives

Re: Dl360 G2 w/SmartStart v8.25

any unsupported controllers in this system take it down to min config and try remove anty thing extra , also ensure serial number in bios is same as that on the systemboard , watch for
zeros and noughts

in windows at cmd prompt try wmic bios get / value

serial number will be about 10 th from bottom of list, now check is this precisely the same number on the system board...

Re: Dl360 G2 w/SmartStart v8.25

The SN in the BIOS was all jibberish. I reset it to match the one on the chassis, ran v7.70 again and it worked.

I tried v8.25 again and it also worked and also could install W2K8...the install is still running so I really will not know until it needs a reboot but all looks well at this point.
