Drive Cage Problem

I suspect I have a problem with the drive cage of my Proliant 6000.
With a hotswap drive inserted, the system gives me a "ID 0 - Failed" error
during POST. If I insert the drive in the second slot, I get "ID 1 - Failed" etc.

Connecting a drive directly to either onboard SCSI port works fine.
I tested my hotswap drives in a Proliant 3000 and they are all OK.

Could this be a SCSI termination problem with the drivecage itself?

Does the UW SCSI cable between the motherboard and cage need a terminator?

Re: Drive Cage Problem

Hi, Yes definitely it could be a problem with drive backplane. Also check for the scsi cable and bend pins Although you probably use the same cable when checking the hard drive on the embedded controller. Also check for the latest firware on the raid card and you can run a diag on the raid controller. Hope this will help.
