I have a Proliant 1600 6/550 s/n D946CSF1K341 with a cage part # 387089-001, does this support 36 GB Ultra3 80 pin 1" drives 177986-001. I would like to upgarde the current capacity.

Hi Pablo,

Yes, there is no problem with Universal drives in that cage.

I have a Proliant 1600 with 2 X 36Gb drives in the 387089-001 and they work fine with a Smart Array 5300.

Brain is right that we can install it. But the part no will be as we are installing new one. Description is below:
