Drives must be connected/configured as standalone drives

Hi, is there any way to configure the inbuilt array on a HP DL380 G9 as standalone drives?

Reason is I am trying to do some data recovery from the faiiled array, all software I have found requires this.

Not really.

You can switch the controller to HBA mode, but disks with a RAID header will not be visible.

Why not use your data backup?

Hope this helps!

Unfortuanetly the backup on tape is encrypted and they key is only on the failed array.

The data recovery support have said

The drives must be connected/configured as standalone drives in order to use R-Studio Virtual RAID feature.

How do I switch the controller to HBA mode?

Bad planning ...

What controller are you using?

Looks like your recovery software works with software RAIDs only.

Hope this helps!

Yes a bit of a mistake, would be good to get some files back if possible

The controller is:-  Smart Array P440ar Embedded Slot

Happy to use any recoveery software, the one I was recommended is https://www.r-tt.com/ but as you say I need to create a softeare raid array.

Re: Drives must be connected/configured as standalone drives

What is the problem with your disk array?

As said, this is a hardware RAID, you cannot use your recovery tool.

Hope this helps!

Re: Drives must be connected/configured as standalone drives

Drives configured for RAID (having a RIS header) will not be visible in HBA mode.

Hope this helps!

Re: Drives must be connected/configured as standalone drives

So there is no way to get the HP Server to show all drives as individual drives then,  wihich is what the software requires.
