Dual Rank and Single Rank memory on Proliant ML30 Gen9 server.
Hi everyone, I have a Proliant ML30 Gen server whit a Intel Xeon CPU E3-1220 v5, 4GB RAM DDR4 1rx8 2113MHz UNBUFFERED ECC CL15 memory, and the server it's been running out of RAM because I'm virtualizating two machines whit Windows Server 2012 so I need more RAM and I can't find anywhere the especific 8GB RAM for this model, searching only I've found a Kingston 8GB memory KTH-PL421E/8G 8GB DDR4 2113 MHz UNBUFFERED ECC CL15, but i have a single rank memory and this i think it's dual rank; a partner recommended me to buy and install the model KTH-PL424E/8G 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz UNBUFFERED ECC CL17 but the processor doesn't support 2400MHz memory.
The question is, This server model and processor it's compatible whit dual and single rank memory?, Is it possible to work with Dual Rank and Single Rank memory simultaneously?, Can i install a 2400MHz frecuency memory and a 2133MHz whit different CAS latency? (obviously in the configuration mencionated above), Which of the two memories (KTH-PL421E/8G or KTH-PL424E/8G) recommend for this model?
Thanks for your answers and your help.

Re: Dual Rank and Single Rank memory on Proliant ML30 Gen9 server.
Hello MauricioTorres,
The ML30 Gen9 is compatible with both Single and Dual Rank memory modules. If for any reason you need/have to mix DIMMs with different ranks, it is recommended to install the highest number of ranks first. In addition, you can install/mix DIMMs with different speeds with any order. The server however, will operate at the lowest available speed.
Please find below the recommended memory options available for the specific server:
HPE 8GB (1x8GB) Single Rank x8 DDR4-2400 CAS-17-17-17 Unbuffered Standard Memory Kit 862974-B21
HPE 8GB (1x8GB) Single Rank x8 DDR4-2133 CAS-15-15-15 Unbuffered Standard Memory Kit 819880-B21
HPE 16GB (1x16GB) Dual Rank x8 DDR4-2400 CAS-17-17-17 Unbuffered Standard Memory Kit 862976-B21
HPE 16GB (1x16GB) Dual Rank x8 DDR4-2133 CAS-15-15-15 Unbuffered Standard Memory Kit 805671-B21
More info you can find here: HPE ProLiant ML30 Gen9 Server QuickSpecs. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any recommendation about 3party HW (non-HPE branded).

Re: Dual Rank and Single Rank memory on Proliant ML30 Gen9 server.
Thanks, actualy, i've found the "862974-B21 Standard Memory Kit" with a local provider and before buying the memory, What happen with the CAS latency?, There isn't problem mixing a CAS 15 and a CAS 17 memory?

Re: Dual Rank and Single Rank memory on Proliant ML30 Gen9 server.
Well, it is recommended that the DIMM's installed are the same model, specs, brand, speed to eliminate any possibilites of failures/errors/latency issues.
So, would recommend to install similar type of DIMM on all the 4 slots.
