Hi,
I just started working with several Proliant DL360s, and in the Smart Array 5i configuration, there's a "Maximum Boot" setting that can be enabled/disabled, which is apparently suppose to change the maximum size of the allowable boot partition to 8GB vs. 4GB, respectively.
How does this "Maximum Boot" setting actually work with respect to Windows 2000 Server? If I enable it, will it actually prevent me from having a boot (C:) partition greater than 8GB?
Or, does this setting only affect the NT4 operating system?
Thanks,
Jim

Solution
Hi Jim,
for Win2K you don't need to set this parameter to 8GB. As the users guide states:
"Some operating systems need to use the maximum boot size to be able to create large
boot partitions. For example, enabling the maximum boot size on a logical drive in
the Windows NT 4.0 operating system allows you to create a bootable partition with
a maximum size of 8 GB.
NOTE: Enabling the maximum boot size may decrease performance of the logical drive."
