Email notification from SIM

Hello,

I have installed HP System Insight Manager and need an additional feature:
email notification if one or more monitored agents fail
I don't want to install the Central Management Server only because of this feature.

Re: Email notification from SIM

Hi,

I don't understand. Systems Insight Manager IS the Central Management Server. Do you mean you have installed only the Management Agents on the server? They can also be configured to send e-mail notification. Start -> Programs -> HP Management Agents -> Event Notifier Config

Re: Email notification from SIM

Hi,

the machine is running fedora core 4, the file /etc/redhat-release had been modified so that the installation of:
hpasm
hpsim
hpsmhd
went straight forward.
All three deamons are running.
At the management webside I can't find options to set an email-adress to sent the errors to.

Re: Email notification from SIM

Ah sorry, you're running Linux. You did not specify in your first post, so I incorrectly assumed Windows.

Have a look here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00223285/c00223285.pdf

This is a HowTo of Proliant Management Tools under Linux. Section 3 (Page 22) has some info about customizing settings, including mail notification (from what I can understand, anyway)
See if this helps you.
