Enable Write Caching on Smart Array P410i under Windows

I have a ProLiant HP DL370 G6 machine, which has a built-in Smart Array P410i controller with the HP 512MB P-series BBWC Upgrade. The server runs Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition for x64 processors.

I'm finding that, in the policies for the disk drives hosted by this controller, I can't mark the "enable write caching on this device" box. If I do, Windows gives me the error message "Windows could not change the write-caching setting for the device. Your device might not support this feature or changing the setting."

How do I change this setting for the volumes hosted by this controller?

You can't change the write cache on these "disks". These are not physical disks, they are logical devices and windows does not actually write to the disks, the raid controller does.

The write cache on logical drives does not exist. The controller has read and write cache and uses it on its own, windows neither controls it not accesses it directly.

I'm not sure I believe you, as other RAID controllers I use allow such settings on their logical disk device.
