Erasing Data from Proliant DL 380 G3, G4, and G5 Servers

I am decommissioning several Proliant servers and need to know how to erase the data from the scsi disks. I have tried the Smartstart CD which has the options to erase disks, RBSU and array, however this process only takes a few minutes and is not efficient.

I want to be able to perform a full write erase to the HDD's writing 0's with multiple passes equivilient to DoD standards. Some proliant servers can boot from CD and others have USB boot features.

Does anyone know how I can securely erase server data ?

Hi there,

You can use www.killdisk.com (my favorite since it supports almost all standards). it takes days depending on the size of the disk and what erasure standard you choose. There is Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (MSDaRT) for customers having microsoft software assurance. Last but not the least, there is Paragon Hard Disk Manager.

Anyone is welcome to offer their favorite software :-)

Hope this helps,
