Re: Error code 0x4,0x1,0,0 during Windows 2000 setup

the Microsoft page:

"Install hotfix documented in Q283891 into your source setup files or setup diskettes, and then restart setup."

but i cant found it..Q283891

I format with Fdisk DOS boot disk, but nothing happend...

Why in the smartstart report 15 equal Scsi disk ??├В┬┐?
-->
Scsi 1 controller slot 1 36.4GB ...
Scsi 2 controller slor 1 36.4GB....
...
Scsi 15 controller slot 1 36.4

Re: Error code 0x4,0x1,0,0 during Windows 2000 setup

are these hotplug or non hotplug drives
- what controller are they connected to.

If hotplug drives; scsi id is given by the SCSI backplane;

If not hotplug drives; make sure that all drives have different scsi id. (this is done with jumpers on the scsi drive.

I could not find the MS article listed also. Q283891 ??

that is documeneted in MS article.

Re: Error code 0x4,0x1,0,0 during Windows 2000 setup

This is usually showing this way (all scsi ids show the same device) because of a scsi id conflict. What is the scsi id of the drive?
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: Error code 0x4,0x1,0,0 during Windows 2000 setup

Hi,

As Terry has pointed out this is normally due to a disk with SCSI ID 7 (i.e. the same as the controller). It's either a cable fault (bent pins) or the drive has all the ID jumpers installed.

I hope this helps,

Brian
