Esxi 6.7 update3 may 2020: Plugin lsu-smartpqi-plugin cannot get information for device naa.XX
Hi,
On a brand new dl360 gen10 with p408i smart raid controller I just installed Esxi 6.7 update3 with HPE custom image release date: 2021-05-04 Build Number: 17700523. I noticed a strange behaviour when dealing with RAID logical volumes. I cannot get from Esxi infos about raid level of logical volumes or disk participating in it. In particular:
- When issuing a command to know which disks are part of logical raid1 array: esxcli storage core device raid list -d naa.600508b1001c9bec22039cdbb2c69517 I get this error: Plugin lsu-smartpqi-plugin cannot get information for device with name naa.600508b1001c9bec22039cdbb2c69517. Error was: Device is not found.
- When issuing a esxcli storage core device list -d naa.600508b1001c9bec22039cdbb2c69517 to get info about logical volume I notice this fields
Drive Type: unknown
RAID Level: unknown
Number of Physical Drives: unknown
normally they are fine populated.
Driver vib installed is smartpqi--67.4054.2.118-1OEM.670.0.0.8169922--MSCC.
Does anybody noticed this behaviour? I wasn't able to find any HPE upgrade option for smartpqi driver installed in custom image.
thanks, regards,

Hi Techin,
Unfortunately not.
I'm in contact with HP via fixed support services waiting for their analysis. I suspect this is something that went unnoticed for p408-i series of controllers ... I have 3 nodes with different esxi 6.7 releases all affected by this.
