My customer's server is lokcing up about every two days or so. This server is primary used as a file server.. Norton Antivirus Corp Ed , Vertias Backup Exec 8.x, Win SP1, Powerchute plus 5.2, SQL 2000. This is the event I get after I boot the system.

The Compaq System Management Driver has detected that the system encountered an NT bugcheck prior to this boot. The bugcheck data was: STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).

Any ideas on why the server is locking ?

FYI
ML370, 256meg mem, 1gig virtual mem, Raid 5 (4) 9.1 gig scsi drives..

Re: Event ID 4188

I'm searching for a solution to the exact same issue.

Our client is running a Proliant 2500, 600+MB RAM, 2 RAID arrays (4x4.3, 3x9), NAV CE, Veritas 8.5, Win 2k SP1, Exchange 2000, and SQL 7.0. It crashes on the same STOP error (0x0000007F) every time it backs up.

Looking for some commonalities here: what version of NAV CE are you running? Do you have the Exchange, SQL, or Open File Options for Backup Exec?

Re: Event ID 4188

Further to my previous message (and some digging around Veritas' site) I found a couple of messages regarding similar crashes with previous versions of BE using the Open File Option.

I have since disabled the OFO on our client's server and the backups have run successfully for four nights in a row. I'm considering it a tentative success.

As the client is willing to do without the OFO, and is not willing to pay for Veritas support I cannot follow up any further than this, but this may be something you want to check...
