Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

We have an HP DL380 G6 Server and keep getting the event ID 57 - Hpqilo2

We do not use ILO and I just wanted to know if disabling ILO on the server will stop the error messages. I also wanted to know if disabling ILO would have any consequences on server performance

No we don't have the lastest firmware installed. We do not want to update the firmware too because it is a very important server.

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

if you can not update , problem is always persists. :((

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

no need to disable or update firmware.

you need HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver Version 1.12.0.0

this is a known HP issue, driver bug prior to 1.12.

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

hello,
I am afraid only solution that works is:
- upgrade ILO firmware to latest
- upgrade ILO driver to latest
- upgrade ILO management driver to latest
- reboot the server.

after everything works ok.

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

I guess I will start with updating the driver and see how that goes.

Thanks for your replies

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

Juan, i know advisory you point to.
But we have the same problem on BL465c, tried many thing, drivers, reboots together with HP support - still the same behavior, then helped what I wrote above: (all latest)
- ilo firmware
- ilo driver
- ilo management driver
- reboot.
Maybe it was coincidence, but management driver from advisory is quite old (july 2007 !) and our server had problem even with newer version (probalby 1.14, do not remeber exactly) in january 2010...
Final solution above works, no problem since then (4 months)

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

Yesterday I applied steps that Jan provided and it seems that our DL380 g6 is running ok. I have not applied the "Online Flash Component for Windows - System Programmable Logic Device (HP ProLiant DL380 G6)" from advisory yet. Despite this, I cannot completely confirm this solution since, in our case, the server was restarting randomly with intervals from 12 hours to week and a half.

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

I just realized that I was reffering to different advisory - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01955503

Someone might find that fact useful :)

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

right now our server stopped responding, console was deaf so we had to manually restart the server. I have installed the programmable logic patch right now and I hope it will help.

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

Server is still rebooting so we are going to have the systemboard replaced. Hope this will solve it.

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

Martin, I was refering to this advisory
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01802766&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3239482

I have installed the HP proliant ilo 2 management driver and the firmware update.

Problem has been resolved. Thanks to everyone who tried to help

Re: Event ID 57 HPqilo2 DL380 G6

We installed the ILO management driver and the firmware update on the 64 bit G6 server and the problem was resolved.

We installed the 32 bit version on a win 3k 32 bit server. The messages did not completely go away but reduced to occurring every few days.
