Exceeding Proliant 800 Hardware recommendations
I have a dual processor 500 MHz proliant 800 server:
1. Can this motherboard support IDE or SATA drives even tho Compaq says no? If so, will RAID work?
3. Will this motherboard support faster processors even tho Compaq says it's only been tested for up to 600 MHz?
4. Will this motherboard support new memory even tho Compaq says it's only been tested for up (4) 256 MB SDRAM @ 100 MHz??
5. Can the max SCSI storage exceed 72.8 GB?
Thanks

Re: Exceeding Proliant 800 Hardware recommendations
Well I will give you our 2 cents.
1. Support for SATA IDE can come from the addition of a controller card, but is not provided for IDE hard drives onboard.
3. The BIOS is limited to the CPUs it can accept, so Compaq max limit is probably the limit of the BIOS microcode definitions. A third party upgrade may function howeven that removes the need for BIOS to recognize and give you 1.4GHz CPUs. Comtact us
4. Probably no. Again the BIOS may not be able to address 512MB boards or more than 1GB. 256MB SDRAM, PC100 CL=2 ECC Registered is all that is listed for the unit.
5. Yes. There is no limit to the size of SCSI drives you can use.
