Exceedingly slow performance
Hi,
My system is a Compaq PL530Ml 256MB W2K SP3, Compaq SP6.10,
Smart Array 5302/32, 2*HDD 9GB 15 K (RAID 1)+3*HDD 18 GB 15 (RAID 5).
I'm having a problem with certain apps, including some older types of Service Pack, such as Compaq (SPxxxx) and MS SQL 7 SP4.
The trouble is they launch very slowly and disapear for large periods of time (minutes), during which Task Manager shows the following:
ImageName PID CPU CPU Time Mem
NTVDM.EXE 1948 0 0:00 4.068
_isdel.exe 0 0:00
winoldap.mod 0 0:00
wowexec.exe 0 0:00
Is this a normal behaviour?
The system is otherwise performing as expected.
Help!
TIA,
Joao

Re: Exceedingly slow performance
It's more than likely a memory issue. Running Win2k and other apps on 256MB of memory is not going to work too well. You should have atleast 1GB worth of memory in this server.

Re: Exceedingly slow performance
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I don't think that is the problem, because it only occurs with older 16-bit programs. All 32-bit software runs fine.
I forgot to mention that my server is dual processor (PIII/866).
Thanks again.
