Exchange 2003 error on ML370 G3 - Event 510 / ESE

Our Exchange 2003 / SP2 running on a ML370 G3 is generating Event 510 (and sometimes Event 509) errors. The text of the message is:

Event: 510
Source: ESE

Information Store (4056) Attorneys: A request to write to the file "E:\MailStores\Attorneys\Attorney5.edb" at offset 2202497024 (0x0000000083477000) for 4096 (0x00001000) bytes succeeded, but took an abnormally long time (144 seconds) to be serviced by the OS. In addition, 53 other I/O requests to this file have also taken an abnormally long time to be serviced since the last message regarding this problem was posted 57 seconds ago. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.

I recently ran the 7.40 Firmware update CD. It did update the hard drive firmware and the system firmware. At first, the messages stopped. However, they have started coming back again and getting worse.

Any suggestions?

Any error under ADU for disk's?
Was there any any other errors prior to this error message?

Few articals point toward the disk system.

Re: Exchange 2003 error on ML370 G3 - Event 510 / ESE

Diskeeper is installed on the server with Smart Scheduling enabled. I forgot that it had been installed on there (server was built 1.5 years ago, but just came into production about 3 months ago). I have disabled the Smart Scheduling for the E: drive (mailstores) and the D: drive (Exchange transaction logs). I have left it enabled for the C: drive (System and Exchange executable files). I am monitoring to see if the 510 or 509 events continue.

Had you noticed when it happened more often? Verify ADU as it been recommended previously for Read / Write Hard errors. What you use for controller and storage? BBWC ?
