Hi,
I have a client who has a Proliant DL 380 G4 with 3x72GB Scsi hard disks (2 using Raid 1 and 1 for other information)
Now he wants to expand to 4x72GB Scsi hard disks (3 using Raid 5 and 1 for other information)
Can i expand the array without having to re-install or is the another way.

Re: Expand Raid 1 to Raid 5
You will need to talk to HP but it is possible. In order to make this with out a reinstall you will need to have a contoler that will allow you to migrate the disk set to a different format.

Solution
Hi,
Assuming you either have a Smart Array 6i or Smart Array 64XX controller Yes, you would be able to Expand the array to Raid5 from Raid1 online without any dataloss.
However, as a general practice it is recommended to have a Valid backup.
Please refer to the Array Configuration Utility Userguide for more information.
