Expand a Raid 0 + 1

Is it possible, a Raid 0 + 1 which consists of 4 hard drives to expand, without formatting the disks, as it works on Raid 5?

It depends on the RAID controller. If the controller can expand the set, then yes.

The expansion of a RAID 0 + 1 set will typically require adding at least 2 new disks at a time, to maintain the RAID 1 aspect of the setup.
