Expand array on Smart Array P400i

Hi,

I have a HP Smart Array P400i and I would like to add a drive and expand my RAID5 disk array but I read that I need to have write cache enabled and the 512MB BBWC upgrade installed. Is that correct information?
If that is correct; is the following parts the one that I should buy: 405148-B21 and 417836-B21?
Can I install these without loss of data?

you must exactly have the kit
and this are spare parts
