Extend a raid system with P420i - without dataloss
HI,
I have a HP system with a Smart Arry P420i, firmware 3.04 - running as fileserver.
I have 2 arrays with SAS discs
a) running RAID1 (Win2008R2)
b)Running RAID5 (Files/data)
I want to add a extra SAS HD to my RAID5 - can I do this "on the fly" or should
I expect to copy data out before doing this ?
Regards

Re: Extend a raid system with P420i - without dataloss
since you already have the RAID 5, so the card is equipped with at least 512 MB of cache. you just have a battery and used the ACU Array Configuration Utility for added disks.
