External USB Disk

Hi,

We have Proliant DL 360 G3 Server with SmartRaid 5i controler. I connected external USB Disk (IDE Disk in case with USB connector) and tried to start server but it was hanged. It was stoped to booting before to initialized RAID controler!

If i switch off USB disk before booting, and switch on USB disk when OS (Windows 2000)is up, everything is OK. I can see USB disk in Explorer!

I tried this USB disk with "normal" PC and everything is OK.

I think that problem is in BIOS. I called HP support but I got stupid answer like " Servers is diferent from desktop PC so it could happen!?"

I can not accept that normal PC for cca. 500â ¬ haven't probleme with USB and Server for 2-3000â ¬ have !?

Can any help me?

Thanks

Re: External USB Disk

Hello,
Please update the system bios from the following link and then connect the USB. It should work fine even though it's not supported.

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20202.html

This is an ONLINE version and should take less then a couple of minutes. Please let me know as to how you make out.
