F6 but no Floppy Drive

The new DL380 G5 Servers only have one slimline removable media slot, so we went with a DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive. However, this presents a problem when a floppy drive is required during a Windows install. When F6 is used to load a mass storage device driver, Windows will only accept a driver from a Floppy Drive (A:). Is there an easy way around this, other than putting in an internal floppy drive and attaching a CD drive via USB just for the install of Windows?

Hi Josh,

Has a alternate resolution you could use nLite Software.
nLite Deployment Tool for Unattended Windows - Remove components, integrate hotfixes, drivers and themes. Tweaks, patches...

What is nLite?

Download nLite

Josh,

If you use SmartStart CD (you receive SmartStart CD with server or you can download latest version from HP site)
you don't need floppy for storage device driver.

Re: F6 but no Floppy Drive

We usually do automated builds, but we also need the ability to load Qlogic 2460 Fibre card drivers so that we can boot from our EMC Clariion SAN. We can't use Smart Start until the server can see its disk on the SAN - which require a F6
