I have a DL380 G5 that has a Smart Array P400 setup with a SAS Array. The array has 4 disks in a RAID5 configuration. One of the disks has a Predictive Failure and I believe is causing users to have errors when accessing files on the drive. I have a new drive incoming and should be here soon but I need a way to disable the drive so that it stops the errors from occurring to the users when they try to access the files.
I do not have physical access to the server otherwise I would just pull it out.
Is there anyway, using the utilities, to force this drive to fail/die?

Re: Fail a Drive on purpose?
You mention not a good idea? Why is that?
That is actually what I am planning now. I have asked the onsite contact to pull the drive and keep it out until the new one arrives.
