Failed disk and spare

Proliant DL380 G3 running CentOS 4.4

One of my disks has failed. In the SMH page for the array controller, one disk is marked as a spare. What do I need to do to make the spare take over for the failed disk until I can replace it?

Re: Failed disk and spare

I think the Drive has not been configured as HOT SPARE.

At this point u need to take out the failed HDD, & replace it with the spare one;

Then ASSIGNING the spare as a HOT spare; only then, it will take over a failed HDD automatically & then rebuild itself.

Cheers!

James.
