I have a failed disk on my DL380 server.
Currently there are 4 disks configed to use Raid 5.
If I replace the disk with the same size, will I have to change anything to get the data back onto the disk?
Or will Raid 5 automatically replicate the data across all the disks?
Thanks.
Sunny

SolutionReplacing the disk shall initiate the auto rebuild if your controller supports it. If not you can very well start the rebuild manually.
Was a space configured out of 4 if yes, then the rebuild would allready had happen to the spare disk and the one failed after replacement will become spare drive.

Re: Failed disk on DL380
If your arrays Auto rebuild option is onm then it will sense the new hdd & do an auto include & start rebuilding. Otherwise you have to give manual rebuild.
You can configure a hotspare hdd, so that whenever a failure happens hot spare will do an auto include to the failed disk & new disk will be come new hot spare.

Re: Failed disk on DL380
Got a replacement drive and just took out the old and replaced with the new whilst server was on.
The rebuild happened automatically.
Thanks.
