False over heat shutdown issues multiple HP DL380eG8 hard drives

We have 3 servers with over temp shutdowns

all Temp sensor 12

2 servers had drives that have reported overheat conditions both bay 25

1 of these after replacing bay 25 bay 22 started reporting over heat condition

any known issues to repair this.  drives are cold when pulled out

Hi,

Check the hard drive model number and see if any firmware updates available for these drives.

Also check the BIOS firmware and Smart Array firmware updates.

Thank You!

Re: False over heat shutdown issues multiple HP DL380eG8 hard drives

Replacing the drives on those 2 servers fixed the issue.

I have 1 more erver thats shutting down sensor 12

IML logs shows the controller but does not give the drive that is casing issue. (Drive # Get cut off)

have to wait for it to over heat and show error during post

How can I find the drive that is casing issue with out waiting for a post error?

Try the array diagnostics utilty (ADU). It would (I think) show that kind of information, although I've never had a drive overheat so I'm not sure.
