Fan speed Proliant ML 370 W2k3

I├В┬┤ve installed w2003 on ML370 Proliant without the Smartstart CD
I need a driver or softpaq to reduce the fan cool speed.

Re: Fan speed Proliant ML 370 W2k3

Wouldn't this problem occur if the temperature on the environment is high?

I have this same problem. Server is unnecessarily noisy. HP software is installed, but can`t change fan speed, only view fan status. Have you got any resolution.

Re: Fan speed Proliant ML 370 W2k3

Check your BIOS (F9 at the end of booting). There is a setting for the fans. You can choose between High and Normal. When this is set to High, it maybe overrules the System Management Controller

With my server the following occurs:
-during boot, the fans switch from normal to high.
-when win 2k3 starts loading, the fans switch to normal and stay at normal.

However, the fan noise is still a lot.

The latest driver can be found here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23327.html

But I suggest you download the whole support pack:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/supportsoftware/catalog/psp-7.40b.w2k3.i386.exe

Goodluck.
