Re: Fans, DL560 and VMWare EXSi (oh my!)
That's interesting... I take it then that installed OS's are able to communicate with iLO with the appropriate drivers - excuse me if this is stating the obvious, you may notice my knowledge is lacking ;-)
What about external clients connected to the iLO interface port - is there any possibility of control (of Fans in my case) through there? I assume the installed OS is none-the-wise in this case?
Thx, Chris.

Re: Fans, DL560 and VMWare EXSi (oh my!)
OK, so I tried installing the HP management and here's what I get.
/usr # tar zxf hpmgmt-8.1.0-vmware3x.tgz
/usr # cd hpmgmt/810/
/usr/hpmgmt/810 # ls
LICENSE.txt
README.txt
hp-OpenIPMI-8.1.0-118.vmware30.i386.rpm
hpasm-8.1.0-121.vmware30.i386.rpm
hpmgmt.conf.example
hprsm-8.1.0-118.vmware30.i386.rpm
hpsmh-2.1.12-200.vmware.i386.rpm
installvm810.sh
/usr/hpmgmt/810 # ./installvm810.sh
cut: /proc/bus/pci/devices: No such file or directory
cut: /proc/bus/pci/devices: No such file or directory
./installvm810.sh: .: 112: Can't open /etc/init.d/functions
/usr/hpmgmt/810 #
If I look in /proc the missing file/directory(s) are indeed missing. Same for init.d/functions.
Maybe these extensions are meant for ESX (full) rather than ESXi (free)?
I have not updated the BIOS yet (still downloading) but will try that next.

Re: Fans, DL560 and VMWare EXSi (oh my!)
iLO got updated (1.91), the RAID controller and the HDDs. I couldn't see anything new for fan control (but there wasn't anything there before anyway).
So am I out of luck with the HP agents?
