Re: Find server model from Serial number

I have the same issue. I need to check if there's a care pack available for a certain server. The only info i got for some servers is the serial number. I also need the model number. Anyone how to find that, if it's possible without rebooting the server.

Dear all,

you cannot find model number within serial.
In sn you will find other information, but model no you must read from tower label or BIOS.

model number is typically also available through the management homepage on Proliant servers. Check "System Info."

Re: Find server model from Serial number

Just go to:

http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

and fill in the serial number.

It will return with a modelnumber and all the pieces inside the server

You are looking at a topic that was posted before the company split seperated the web sites.  The above URL is for Hewlett Packard Inc. (hp.com)  which does not have server information. You need to use partsurfer for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (hpe.com) http://partsurfer.hpe.com/search.aspx
