Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

Anyone having issues with the 8.2 CD not getting past the 100% loading screen?

It gets to 100% and then the screen goes black.

I've burned the cd in multiple programs and tried multiple copies of the ISO

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

Oddly enough its happening on all 4 HP DL580 G5 servers on the rack..

Perhaps the resolution/refresh changes and the KVM doesn't properly display 'out of range'. However it is a new HP KVM switch/monitor.. I'll try a few other things.

What server(s) are you loading the 8.2 into? Also, how much RAM does the server contain?

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

We've had the same issues with DL580 G5. they have 64GB of RAM...

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

I tried loading the ISO over iLO.. same problem.. runs to 100% then black screen..

We are going to try a 8.1 cd...
Anyone know any updates missing for the DL580 G5 that are on the 8.2 cd?

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

Also of note is that multiple ISO burns of 8.2 have been tried on Porliant DL580 G5 machines with 128GB of RAM installed (4 expansion boards w/ 4GB DIMMs).

The 8.1 ISO however does function as expected and the firmware update succeeds. Of note is that the documentation found on HP's website recommends the following:

"To use HP Smart Update Manager on the Firmware Maintenance CD version 7.60 and later:

Place the Firmware Maintenance CD on a USB key using the HP USB Key Creator Utility.
Place the desired firmware to be updated in the directory, /compaq/swpackages on the USB key.

Boot from the newly created Firmware Maintenance USB key.
Follow HP Smart Update Manager steps to complete firmware update."

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

No problems using 8.2, DL380-G4s, and an older Compaq KVM switch.

ML350-G5 also updated ok, direct connected to kbd/mouse/monitor.

We have yet to try other servers...

You should try straight connecting the server(s) to kbd/mouse/monitor to see if that alleviates the problem.

The list of all updates included and for which servers are contained in the attached PDF file.

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

How about using an other CD player.
Worked for us.

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

Hmm.. interesting.. You mean an external cd-rom drive?

because when we loaded the ISO through iLO we had the same problem.

Re: Firmware Maintenance 8.2 CD not loading

Thanks the previous solution worked for us.
We're using HP BL680c G5 Blade Servers with 65GB of memory. Everytime we booted to the HP Smart Start 8.3 x64 or the HP Firmware Maintenance CD 8.3 we were getting a Blank Screen after the CD reached 100% during it's load process.
The Previous link stated that the issue would have been resolved in future releases of Smart Start from the 8.1 and Firmware Maintenance CD 8.2 versions, but as you can see from the versions I stated we used, the problem wasn't fixed on the newer versions.
Just use the resolution to the problem on the previous link and this will solve your problem.
