Firmware & Drivers upgrades

I'm planning to upgrade Fimware & Support Pack on few of my DL3x0 servers (most from V7.4 to 7.7).
I'm wondering what is the better way to do it:

In my opinion:
- Upgrade the Support Pack (drivers),
- shutdown the server,
- Upgrade the firmware,
- Restart the server.

This process making sure that, at reboot time, the drivers & Firmware have the same level.

Any comments on this method ? (I could not find any doc / white papers about "official" way to do it).

Re: Firmware & Drivers upgrades

Your plan is Ok.
Note1: you can do online firmware update for all servers components except SCSI drives
(for new SAS drives you can do online firmware update as well), i.e. you can run firmware update from windows and then restart server.
Note2: Firmware maintenance CD not always contains latest firmware, you can compare versions on with versions on "software and drivers" page for specific DL3x0 server.
