Firmware upgrade of Smart Array 641/642
Hello,
I want to install the 128-MB Cache Module but actually the controller firmware version is 1.20.
So, I must flash the Smart Array 641/642 controller firmware to Version 1.30 as told on the installation recommandations.
I downloaded several firmwares to update the firmware with boot cd or usb key but the version is still on 1.20.

Re: Firmware upgrade of Smart Array 641/642
Offline Rom Flash
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24944.html
Online Rom Flash
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24879.html
i recommend to use the online Rom Flash (if u're using a M$ OS)
at least patch to version 2.48 to fix the known battery issue
regards
Mike

Re: Firmware upgrade of Smart Array 641/642
Thanks for the reply,
CP006629.exe (online) :
Windows 2003 Server indicates that this file does not need to be installed
CP006628.scexe :
and for this patch, the update is already made.
It is possible that the system is already up to date?
Best regards

Re: Firmware upgrade of Smart Array 641/642
I have come across issues with CPs. Sometimes it will work just fine if instead of clicking 'Install', just click 'Extract' and unpack the files for the update to somewhere in your file system.
Then run cpqsetup.exe and you may have a better chance of upgrading the firmware. Some of the packages just don't install correctly.
Good luck.
