Fitting an IDE Hard Drive To A Proliant 5000

I was just wondering if it is possible to fit an ide hard drive to a proliant 5000?

to be used for mass storage

(quad pent 2 600 memory 4x9.2 gig set at raid 5)

You will need an additional IDE controller. There cheap, but get a good one. Adaptec makes some good one that will be compatible

Thanks for that, i have had a look for ide controllers, could you provide a model number or link to make sure i get one compatible.

I have looked on Ebay and there are many on there, and as you say cheep but just wanted to make sure

For me any IDE PCI CTRL will work.

Remember that you will not be able to use the IDE as a boot device either...
