what if you try applying Firmware CD booting the server with that Cd? doing it offline

This is the embedded controller - I believe the model is 4040.
A side note: there was also a 532 controller installed in a PCI slot and this also failed when attempting to upgradet it's firmware. I have since removed this card for troubleshooting. I thought it was strange this card firmware wouldn't update either.
