Freezes after monitor probe

Hi,

I'm trying to install RedHat 7.3, but right after the part where it probes for monitor type (which is unsuccessful) it freezes up. This is just before it would go into the graphical installation.

I tried installing with the text mode but the same thing happened. I even tried with the noprobe option, but that apparently still probes the monitor.

Hello,
There is a problem with the new Kernel. Red Hat has not posted a solution for this unfortunately. For now u have to downgrage to 7.2 till a solution is posted by Red Hat.

Problem still exists in 8.0 Pro.

I had a similar problem when installing RH on my proliant 3000. I selected the "lowres" option and the install proceeded just fine.

FWIW, I have installed RH 7.2, 7.3, and 8.0 on this machine without a problem and without a kernel upgrade. I did compile a custom kernel after the install, but that was to get rid of the initrd requirement by compiling scsi support into the kernel.
