Freezing and CPU Usage

Hello,

We recently upgraded our Windows NT 4.0 TSE to Windows 2000 Server, which also has Citrix metaframe XP. After upgrading it will not shutdown. It gets to the saving settings screen and then freezes on the coloured background, we have to physically turn it off at this point, it has 768 megs ram, nothing indicates why it wont shutdown, can anyone help.

Also i have noticed that when all 17 users are connected to the server, everything runs fine, but if someone opens an application and leaves it open, (usually takes 3 - 5 megs of Memory and only 2% CPU utiilization) then comes back to use it, it goes wild, taking up anywhere from 5 megs to 140 megs and different CPU utilization values, the application (which is AcuCobol runtime) needs to be then forced closed with task manager aand then any other apps they have open, when closed normally get a file error 30 (in cobol terms this means operating system problem not described) would this be a windows problem or a memory problem.

Thanks

Kris

Re: Freezing and CPU Usage

Good Day Kris,
It sounds like an operting system issue and should consider contacting the manufacturer of SW. If at any point it is determined that it is a HW issue please feel free to contact out Tech Support at 1-800-OK-COMPAQ.
