From ML370 to DL380 using Live State Recovery

Has anyone sucessfully been able to do this?, i have an exchange server on a ML370 with a 5i scsi, i have a image from this and i have to transfer this image to a new DL380, except it has a 6400 card, so my problem is the Blue Screen, inaccessible boot device, i know that the old servers drivers dont like the 6400, but surely there must be a way round this??

Any help appreciated.

Antony,

You could try installing the 6400 in your ML370 and take another image.

Thanks for that mate, but unfortunately that was one of the first things i tried. The 6400 card will not go into the 370 (its an old one). :o(

Hi Antony,

You can use a 'mediator' SA card for this purpose, the one which can work on both servers. first install it to ML370, enum it's driver and make an image. then take that card to new server, restore image, install 6400, enum it's driver, remove the mediator card. I believe it should work.

Re: From ML370 to DL380 using Live State Recovery

arrrgh things get worse the ML370 is pretty old (not sure how old, but ooooold) The array card in it has dirrent pins to the array card in my DL380, therefore i cant plug either card in either server, or even get a mediator card because what will fit into one server will not fit into another, compaq i hate u lol

Getting stressed now :(
